Our Mission & Vision
Bridging the Gap between education and employment, we are a unique youth employment programme that works closely with local businesses and key organisations within the Wealden community.
Every young person deserves success
My previous role as Deputy Manager at a residential childrens home specialising in Autism and challenging behaviours, has given me a real understanding of the issues some our young people face.
Now as Team Leader for Wealden Works I have the privileged opportunity of supporting my local community and being part of our young people's transition from education to employment.
With a commercial background in the Finance Industry I joined the team over 10 years ago and in that time have supported over 400 young people.
Knowing that we have helped in breaking down barriers that were preventing them moving forward with their careers has been immensely rewarding, and I look forward to continuing our success with Wealden Works.
After studying comedy, writing and performance at Salford University, I dropped out after 1 year as I had doubts about my future. I joined Wealden Works in 2018 with the aim of finding some direction and purpose. During my time on the course, I started to see opportunities which lay in the education sector which interested me. Wealden Works offered me the opportunity to complete a level 3 teaching qualification, this really opened things up for me and I started to see where my skills and interests were. After completing my qualification over six months, I offered my services to volunteer at Wealden Works to gain experience in using my knew found knowledge of structuring and facilitating lessons. The rest is history and I am now a facilitator and mentor of the programme and really loving my job and I am able to view things from the perspective of the young people we enrol.
