Thomas

Thomas came to Wealden Works following redundancy from a full time position with a motor mechanic firm. Thomas had lost his confidence and felt he wasn’t enjoying his previous role in motor mechanics and wanted to explore new industries.

“When Thomas joined the team last year he quickly fitted in and proved himself to be a very valuable asset. He consistently shows himself to be a dependable team player as well as a friendly and conscientious colleague.”

Thomas’s Story

Thomas joined the Wealden works course along with other participants and became a key member of the group, engaging well with other members and taking the lead on some in house workshops.

We saw his confidence grow and noticed Thomas had great communication skills with the other members.

Following an introduction to one of our local businesses and a tour of the business itself, he showed an interest in the various roles involved in this signage business.  After an initial interview and a short works trial Thomas was offered a position within the factory, where he learnt different areas of the process of sign making.  18 months later he has now been a lead in the team responsible for Wealden Works signage for their new high Street premises.

We are so very proud of everything he has achieved; he has proved to be an asset to Graffiti Design who have been instrumental in the progression within his role.

“Thomas concentrates his time in the metal fabrication and assembly areas of our workshop. He is regularly involved in the production of signage for many of our biggest clients. We are keen to broaden his understanding of the business and see him further develop his skill set.

Working with Thomas and seeing him grow in confidence has been a wonderful experience for us all. We believe he has the potential to continue to expand his knowledge in the signage industry due to his willingness to learn and the dedication he has shown to the role.”
