We have received a plethora of visitors walking in our doors, ranging from employers offering jobs and work trials to generous members of the public walking in with donations and, most importantly, young people just dropping in for advice and guidance. We couldn’t have asked for more. The first cohort run from Tunstall House was oversubscribed and saw us take 11 students through the programme. On completion of the six-week intense course, Wealden Works secured a 77% hard outcome of attendees, with 3 students still engaged to find their forever careers. Wealden Works continues to work with them to help secure an apprenticeship for 2025. We now see a similar trend with the second cohort starting on 16th October 2024, and 12 students signed up to start, again oversubscribed, with a further 4 applicants deferred until the January course.
We continue to work with Heathfield Community College where we have 4 students enrolled on a mentoring programme for 2024-2025. Students are transported by minibus to the Wealden works premises every other week where they can gain advice and guidance relating to the world of work and how to get ahead in their chosen industries.
We really feel this is the community working together and we are very proud of the value Wealden Works continues to deliver to its young people.
